The 2A Hampden project in Armadale, Melbourne, is a boutique apartment complex that presented a unique set of challenges. Confronted with constructing over 108 uniform brick archways using rustic, nonuniform bricks in a tight space, our solution was to employ lightweight brick cladding. This approach not only maintained the archways' visual appeal but also made their construction feasible in the constrained area. By integrating this modern technique with traditional bricklaying, we were able to enhance both time and cost efficiency, overcoming what would have been a significant obstacle solely using traditional masonry. The project's success, marked by its stunning façade and intricate archways, showcases the potential of modular masonry in complex architectural designs.
